THE INFECTION CONTROL NURSES ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF INFECTION CONTROL WEEK
25 29TH October 2004
NB: Due to regional variances in school half term holidays some Infection Control Teams will be holding events during week commencing 1st November 2004
Infection Control Professionals in the Community and in Hospitals across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern & Southern Ireland will be organising events to promote good clinical infection prevention and control practice and awareness of the risk of Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI).
The ICNA continues to campaign for the empowerment of Infection Control Nurses as they strive with limited powers of enforcement and resources to tackle the ever present threat of Healthcare Associated Infections including Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aurous (MRSA) that can have very serious implications to vulnerable patients. One pressing issue is the lack of comprehensive national surveillance systems that if in place would enable Infection Control professionals to target the limited resources available more effectively.
If you would like to know more about the work of Infection Control Nurses, the ICNA or details of some of the events being run across the country please contact the Chairperson, Vice Chair or Communications Coordinator on the following numbers: Jean Lawrence Chairperson 0113 295 2372 / 07957 378841 Judy Potter Vice Chair 01392 402355 Christine Perry Communications Coordinator 0777 3419 493 |
