CONSULTATION: Guidelines for the prophylaxis and treatment of meticillin (methicillin)-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections in the United Kingdom
Produced by a joint working party of the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, Hospital Infection Society and Infection Control Nurses Association, these draft guidelines are being issued for open consultation for a period of four weeks commencing Monday 11 April 2005.


Following the consultation period the report will be amended and submitted for publication in the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy. Copies of the report will be freely available from the time of publication. The working party does not intend publishing the responses received, but copies will be made available for inspection.

More action to tackle C.Difficile as MRSA numbers continue to fall

The Government's Chief Nursing Officer today welcomed a further reduction in MRSA bloodstream infections and announced the latest in a raft of measures to drive down rates of C.difficile in hospitals.
