I am seeking some advice for my Paediatric Department regarding the re-use of Aero Chambres & Volumatics following child/parent instruction on the use of devices.

Currently nursing staff use an alcohol wipe to clean the training device mouth piece that the Nurse has used to show child/parent correct technique. This device is then re-used by other nurses for training sessions. Is this acceptable?

Currently, the child is given a device for their own use. My 2nd question is can a single device be used for training children prior to their discharge and what should the cleaning guideline be?

What is the practice in Paediatric Wards/Hospitals, particulary in relation to the Aero Chambre ?

Thank you,
Claire Dowling.

These are single-patient use and shouldn't be shared between staff/patients.
