The Hospital Infection Society is planning to visit South America in Spring (European) of 2007 (dates tbc) to share views on topics related to Infection Control. We are hoping to visit Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile.

As in previous trips please note that:
1. It is entirely self-funded
2. You must be prepared to lecture on 1 or 2 topics and take part in seminars/workshops
3. Partners/spouses (self funding) welcome.

Suggested topics include:
o MRSA
o ESBLs
o Acinetobacters (? in ITU)
o Flu / Avian flu
o Norovirus and other community/hospital interface outbreaks
o Multi resistant TB
o Fungal infections in hospital
o Waste management
o Operating Theatres
o Processing of endoscopes and other articles
o Reprocessing of single use devices (a practice that is routine in Brazil � probably not done in the UK but a very important discussion in poor countries)
o Infection control perspectives: the government X the Hospital
o Simplified microbiology for developing countries
o Education of infection control professional
o How to apply for National (or Government) recommendations
