Hi All,
Does anyone know of any short courses which may be of interest to myself- I have missed out on the ICN course in Leeds this month, and was wondering if there was anything I could do in the meantime related to work. |

On behalf of Oxoid, I would like to give you details of the Oxoid Infection Control Seminar Day that will be held on 9 May 2006 at the 4 star Crewe Hall Hotel in Crewe, Cheshire. This seminar day is free to attend (although places must be booked in advance) and is CPD accredited by the Royal College of Nursing. The agenda for the day has still to be finalised, but to give you an idea its value one of last year"s attendees said the day was 'By far the most informative infection control conference that I have attended' and another said it was 'Better than many infection control courses that I have paid for'. If you would like to register for more information about this year"s event, please email: [email protected] Please mark your email 'Infection Control Seminar Day'.

This question comes up all the time doesn"t it. The old ICNA publication on educational opportunities is still on the website but is now out of date.
Would it be possible to put an up-to-date list of courses on the website? If we put out a general call for information I"m sure it wouldn"t take long to compile a simple list and contact details that could be a starting point for people. Janet

Hi Janet et al,
This is a tricky one these days because there are so many courses of variable quality. In the days when it was either the Birmingham/Colindale or Manchester courses (plus Irish and Scottish equivalents) which were all quite similar it was no problem but now it's another world. Many Uni's run single module infection control courses (link nurse type courses), some run a whole programme of study leading to a Batchelor or Masters degree.
Clearly, the ICNA cannot 'approve' any of these courses but I will raise with the NEC( 4/5 Feb 2006). However, I know this has been considered in recent years and the sheer volume may make this problematic.
