Dear All This would be a very valuable resource for all ICNs who are preparing operational plans - would you be prepared to share it more widely?? It might save a lot of re-inventing wheels and also stimulate discussion |

Of course I would be happy to share more widely but I can't attach files to this message board. Any advice on this would be great. (Maybe Neil could help with this) I put it together in November so minor adjustments would need to be made as things seem to change on a daily basis! Also it doesn't mention surgical masks for those within 3 feet but shows the FFP3 masks which we have gone with, for aerosole generating procedures. (it was written before the guidance on PPE) There is a lot about the history and background to pandemic flu. Also, it was written for the private sector with all side rooms so cohorting etc would need to be added. Regards Debbie |

Hi
I am aware that people with beards or even a few days stubble may fail fit testing for the FFP3 masks. Is there any alternative?
I would be grateful for your comments

If a member of staff fails a fit test then you may try a different make of mask. Some staff have flatter bridges to their noses (often afro carrabeans) and tend to be difficult to fit test and facial hair is a bit of a nightmare. We found the rep from 3M very helful and they do a range of different FFP3 masks so if one fails the fit test you can try another style. Also Kimberly Clark do a varied range. |

Hi Margaret I was talking to the 3M rep last week regarding your question on fit testing for staff with facial hair. He states that no mask that relies on a facial seal would be suitable for these staff. There is however a mask that is battery operated that does not rely on this facial seal. Maybe this will help Regards Debbie |
