I have been asked to produce an Infection Control Policy for Hydrotherapy.
Does anyone have a similar policy that they would be happy to share with me please?
Does anyone know of a good resource relating to this topic please?
Any information would be gratefully recieved. |

Dear Jane As well as look at the specific policies and guidance on hydrotherapy pools, as mentioned by Jean, you could also look at the following documents, which relate to swimming pools in general: * The Institute of Sport and Recreation Management guidelines - various documents. * Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools (HSG179) from _HSE Books_ (http://www.hsebooks.com/) priced at 10.95. * British Standards Institute (2003) Management of public swimming pools - water treatment systems, water treatment plant and heating and ventilation systems - Code of Practice. ISBN 0 580 42649 1 (This document includes the minimum standards for pool filtration and disinfection, what should be done if there is a faecal incident, how to promote high standards of hygiene and reduce the risk of infection, bathing loads, circulation rates and turnover rates (including those for hydrotherapy pools) and microbiological water testing.) I have found the 3rd document the most useful one. As some hospitals still have staff swimming pools, these documents are relevant to these pools as well.
