Use of gloves when performing venupuncture

Sorry to bring this up again!Following PPE audit some staff are not wearing gloves when performing venupuncture and the Trust is to change our glove guidance to say "you will wear gloves when performing venupuncture", from "it is recommended that gloves be worn". Some staff state they are more at risk of an injury as they are less dextrous when wearing gloves(their risk assessment) Is this a problem anywhere else and how have you solved it? Thanks.

There are sensitive touch gloves available (logistics catalogue). Veins can be palpated without gloves, but then hands would need to then be decontaminated, gloves applied, and the patients skin should be decontaminated before the blood is taken.
