A contact has been advised that in rooms used for minor surgery in there should be 25 air changes per hour under the positive pressure criteria.

The premises are in the community setting.

Does anyone have any guidance on ventilation for minor surgery rooms in primary care please?

Given that hospital operating theatres usually deliver 16-20 air changes per hour 25 seems a little excessive. You could ask the Department of Health Estates and Facilities Division if they have any guidance, sorry I don't have a contact number for them I afraid.

I am looking at this at the moment.
Visit www.primarycare.nhsestates.gov.uk for guidance on specialist treatment spaces.
My understanding is that natural ventilation is adequate when carrying out minor op procedures such as injections, excisions, curette, cautery and cryocautery etc. Consideration should also be given to providing air transfer grilles in the doors between naturally ventilated corridors and rooms. Any procedures that do not fall into this category (such as deep tissue surgery) require controlled positive pressure ventilation of 20 air changes or more.
