Has anyone else been getting a high fail rate when fit testing FFP3 masks? So far I have fit tested about 15 staff and I am the only one who has passed! I have sought advice from the company (who trained me in the procedure), looked again at all the training inormation etc and I can't see where I am going wrong. Could it be a design fault? Any suggestions welcome as I am begining to loose faith?
As I am the only one who has passed, guess who will be looking after the cases when performing aerosol generating procedures!
Thanks

Hi Debbie, Our fail rate hasn't been as bad as yours, but we did have to adjust the fit of the masks for one or two people (by crossing the straps at the back of the head) to get a snugger fit around the chin on thin faces. We did wonder if we might get a lot of fails.....because those who pass are going to be the ones dealing with infected patients, staff may feel it's a better idea to fail and rule out the possibility of having to be involved!! Maybe your staff are brighter than ours!?! |
