Hi
Our Community Matrons have pulled together a policy for administration of sub cut fluids. There is some debate about skin prep before needle insertion. Does anyone have a similar policy, if so, what are your reccomendations?
Kind regards
Bev

We have recently looked at this and have included skin prep for subcuts as the needle remains in the tissues for a period of time therefore potential for bacterial growth, we have had anedotal evidence of abscesses at subcut sites unfortunately this is rarely reported. |
