The Authors
Janine Rayfield

Janine trained in Peterborough and followed a career specialising in Trauma Orthopaedics, Advanced Trauma Life Support in Nottingham and then Isolation
and Infectious Diseases in Peterborough. Janine took up her present post of Communicable Disease Control Nurse for Lincolnshire in 1998. Having completed her BSc in 1997 she will complete her MSc in Public Health Nursing
with the South Bank University in January 2003.

Jane Lawson

Jane is a Senior Communicable Disease Control working at Tees Shared Services. She trained in the North East and has spent most of her 27 years in nursing as a surgical and
district nurse, having gained a BSc (Hons) in community nursing. Jane has always had a special interest in infectious diseases, having previously worked in the voluntary sector as a �buddy� to people with HIV. She is currently working towards an MSc in Public Health.

Janet Howard

Janet is a Senior Health Protection Nurse working in Shropshire. She has been working in the field of infection prevention and control for over ten years. Prior to this, she enjoyed a varied career that included occupational health nursing and health visiting. She is also
Chair, Community Infection Control Nurses Network.

The Editors

Dr Joe Neary,

Dr Neary has been a full-time GP since 1989. He was a principal in Wisbech, a Fenland market town, for 12 years. In autumn 2001 he moved to Yorkshire where he now works as
a GP in Leeds. Since 1999, Dr Neary has served as chair of the RCGP�s Clinical and Special Projects network, where he aims to encourage high quality care in general practice, using means that are sensitive to the enormous diversity of practice circumstances. He also has an interest in supporting extended clinical roles in primary care.

Lynn Parker

Lynn Parker is the Clinical Nurse Manager for Infection Control at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin and has been a specialist nurse since 1987. Lynn has travelled extensively as an army nurse working in Hong Kong, Nepal and New Zealand. An active member of the ICNA she has held national posts as membership secretary and conference co-ordinator and was the regional co-ordinator for the Yorkshire Regional Group. Lynn is currently the
Honorary Secretary of the ICNA.
